Artificial intelligence for JD Edwards
Artificial intelligence (AI or IA) for JD Edwards (JDE or JDEdwards) means applying language models and agents on top of your ERP to query data, converse with the system and automate processes, without replacing JD Edwards: it remains the system of record. This guide explains what you can do, how it connects and how it is controlled.
What is AI for JD Edwards?
It is an intelligence layer that relies on the APIs, business functions and orchestrations your EnterpriseOne already has. Instead of opening screens or waiting for reports, a user asks or requests an action in natural language and the AI answers or executes, respecting ERP security. It is not a new ERP or a migration: it is AI on top of your current JD Edwards.
What can you do?
It helps to distinguish three planes, because they carry different risks and controls:
Query (read-only)
Converse via your channels
Execute and automate
Examples our MCP already answers
These are real questions the MCP server answers today in natural language, read-only and with every figure traceable to its JD Edwards table. The following is an illustrative example of a response:
Other questions it can answer:
How it connects: MCP, AIS and Orchestrator
The AI does not access the database directly or create backdoors. Queries go through the MCP server (read-only); automation goes through AIS (JDE’s REST services layer) and Orchestrator, Oracle’s recommended path to read and execute in EnterpriseOne.
Security and control
Compatibility and requirements
It runs on your current JD Edwards EnterpriseOne 9.2 environment starting from Tools Release 9.2.5 (TR25), relying on the AIS and Orchestrator you already have. No migration or changes to your business rules or roles required.
FAQ
Does AI replace JD Edwards?
No. JD Edwards remains the system of record; AI is a layer that queries and automates on top of your ERP while respecting its security.
What is the difference between querying (MCP) and executing (agents)?
The MCP server is read-only: it answers questions with traceable figures. An agent runs a process (onboard, release, reconcile) with the user’s identity and permissions, and approval for sensitive actions.
Do I need to migrate or change my JDE version?
No. It connects to your EnterpriseOne 9.2 (starting from Tools Release 9.2.5) and respects your security model.
Which languages does it work in?
Spanish and English, with figures by country or consolidated in your reporting currency.
